'This picture was presented to J. McCunn by Sampson Bennett JRCVS [Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons], to whom it was presented by Mr Spratt, a fellow of St Catherine's College Cambridge. Mr Bennett had successfully operated upon Mr Spratt's spaniel which was the subject of renal calculus'.

This etching and the companion A Lion Devouring a Horse, represents the core of Stubbs’s output as a mature printmaker.

In East Side Interior, a young mother with a baby carriage sits at a sewing machine and gazes out the window. Hopper used the stark light from the window to animate the surfaces of the interior space and imbue the scene with dramatic tension.
