Born in Philadelphia, PA to parents who have always collected 19th and early 20th century art and antiques, I have always loved the many different arts and techniques of art from the vast cultures of the world. At age 18, I moved to Miami, Florida, to attend The University of Miami, and enroll in the pre-law program. While attending UM, I started buying and selling antiques to and from the local antiques stores in my spare time. After graduating from The University of Miami, and interning for a circuit court judge of Miami Dade County, I decided that the law was not my passion. Instead, My parents and I opened up an art and antiques showroom in downtown Miami. After 10 years of working with my parents, my tastes in art had moved from traditional art to contemporary art. In 1999, I left the world of traditional art and antiques, and began working as a private dealer of Cuban and contemporary art. In 2003, I opened Verve Gallery in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. The focus was on “blue chip, investment quality” contemporary art, specializing in prints, and multiples. Deciding that Miami was the cultural art center of South Florida, I closed Verve Gallery, and in 2011, opened a new gallery in the Wynwood Arts District, in Miami. The new gallery, Gregg Shienbaum Fine Art, still continues to sell blue chip contemporary art, but has now added many emerging artists to itʼs staple of contemporary masters.
