Françoise Legris

Realist drawing forms the foundation of Françoise Legris’s practice, while stone lithography is her preferred medium. She seeks to capture the whisper of worn objects, revealing their beauty even as they decline. By naming her works after the object’s owners, she invites reflection on collective memory and the traces that objects leave in our lives.

Her work received the Grand Prize at the 14th International Contemporary Print Biennal of Trois-Rivieres (Canada, 2025), the Second Mention at the 7th René Carcan International Prize for Printmaking (Belgium, 2026), and the Plugor Sándor Prize at the 9th Graphic Art Biennial of Szeklerland (Romania, 2026). It was also selected for the World Triennial of Prints in Chamalières (France, 2025). Her exhibition Rescapés was a finalist for the 27th Arts Excellence Awards presented by Culture Mauricie (Canada, 2026).

Her works have been exhibited in Vevey, Switzerland, as part of Vevey, City of Images , and are held in the collections of the Bibliothèque et Archives nationaux du Québec (BAnQ), the Gabrielle-Roy Library in Québec City, and several private collections in Canada and abroad.

Françoise Legris lives and works between Saint-Élie-de-Caxton and Montreal. She practices printmaking at Atelier Presse Papier in Trois-Rivières and Atelier Circulaire in Montreal.
