Paula Rego; Prints, Process and Politics
Join Paul Coldwell, master printmaker and Professor Emeritus at the University of the Arts London, and Jennifer Farrell, Jordan Schnitzer Curator in the Department of Drawings & Prints at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, for a conversation about Paula Rego’s printmaking practice and process. Topics will include the technical and collaborative aspects of her printmaking, how her work engaged with political and social themes, and insights into the upcoming 2028 exhibition of Paula Rego at The Metropolitan Museum of Art.

IFPDA Foundation Book Award Winner: Lines of Connection: Drawing and Printmaking, 1400-1850
While often viewed and studied separately, drawings and prints have always been closely intertwined. They facilitated and generated the production of one another, and in some instances, clear distinctions between the two dissolved. This reciprocal relationship goes even deeper, as innovative artists made fascinating hybrid works that blurred the boundaries between the two media, pushing against modern definitions and hierarchies. *Lines of Connection* charts these historical and geographical continuities, foregrounding issues of artistic process and collaboration, technical innovation, and creative ingenuity with prints and drawings by artists such as Albrecht Dürer, Parmigianino, Hendrick Goltzius, Maria Sibylla Merian, Rembrandt van Rijn, and William Blake. Jamie Gabbarelli is the Prince Trust Associate Curator in Prints and Drawings, where he is responsible for the collection of European works on paper from the 15th to the 18th centuries. His research focuses on artistic exchanges between Italy and northern Europe, on the history of printmaking techniques, and on the relationship between prints and other media. Edina Adam is assistant curator of drawings at the J. Paul Getty Museum.

Ruffles & Ribbons: Fashion Plates from the Time of Marie Antoinette
Offered in conjunction with the exhibition by the same name at The Frick Collection, *Ruffles & Ribbons: Fashion Plates from the Time of Marie Antoinette* explores hand-colored engravings of French fashion in the late 18th century. Known as fashion plates, the Galerie des modes et costumes français (1778–87) was the largest and most influential series of its kind produced during the period, which documented the dazzling fashions of a pivotal moment in French history. Its remarkable success anticipated the emergence of modern fashion magazines. Yifu Liu is the Anne L. Poulet Curatorial Fellow at The Frick Collection. Previously, he was a doctoral fellow at the Ricci Institute for Chinese-Western Cultural History at Boston College, and he served in the curatorial and education departments of the Morgan Library, Brooklyn Museum, and Princeton University Art Museum.
