Cristea Roberts Gallery is delighted to present Ali Kazim’s first solo exhibition with the gallery, featuring new watercolours and the artist’s first portfolio of prints.
New watercolours depicting solitary figures and circus acts will be exhibited together with a series of new etchings, each work illustrating a different letter from the Urdu alphabet. Kazim, who is based in Lahore, invites the audience to explore the rich history and culture of South Asia through the Urdu language, whilst also highlighting the urgency of maintaining a connection to our native languages in an era of migration and exile.
The artist will also be the subject of a new episode of the Cristea Roberts Gallery podcast, Making a Mark, which explores contemporary artists’ approach to drawing and printmaking.
