The exhibition L’Œuvre au Noir brings together recent works by Stella Pace, a Montréal-based artist known for her raw, instinctive, and visceral gesture. Guided by intuition and spontaneity, she approaches creation as a vital act — “I do not dream, I am,” she says.
Through collagraphs, drawings, and assemblages, Pace explores the tension between matter and emotion. Each work emerges from an impulsive gesture — an act of presence — that seeks first to provoke a physical reaction, then to reach something intangible: the unveiling of the soul.
In L’Œuvre au Noir, black becomes a space of alchemy, a passage between density and light, body and spirit. Pace’s work is not about discourse but about experience — a living trace where form and energy fuse to express life in its most essential state.
