Don’t Set Sail, a fantasy springing from Glenn Brown’s imagination, takes inspiration from a drawing by Rubens after Michelangelo’s central ceiling panel in The Sistine Chapel. The iconic figure of God reaching out to Adam has been super-imposed onto another Old Master portrait, creating a spectre-like figure. The title is taken from an eponymous ballad by Susanne Abbuehl after a poem by the late Ming Dynasty poet Feng-Meng Lung. Each etching has been uniquely hand-coloured by the artist. To
