In this series, Martin delves into the theory of duality by examining the connection between the physical and spiritual worlds. Using a combination of printmaking techniques, intricate patterns, hand stitching, and bright geometric forms, the artist creates figures that exist in multiple realms. This serves to illustrate to viewers the interconnectedness of different dimensions and their importance in maintaining balance.

“There Within Lies the Gospel: Truth” also features Tawny Chatmon, Wesley Clark, Morel Doucet, Monica Ikegwu, M. Scott Johnson, and Felandus Thames. The exhibit celebrates the rich history of black religious and spiritual traditions while challenging how these practices continue to evolve and adapt in response to contemporary social and cultural realities.
