Ernst Ludwig Kirchner (1880-1938) and Georg Baselitz (*1938) influenced and continue to influence entire generations of artists in their œuvre. With their own artistic expression, which was created separatley from each other, both Kirchner and Baselitz paved the way for an art that was ahead of its time: Consistently rebellious, provocative and new.

The often different results of Kirchner’s and Baselitz’ creative work are displayed in our new exhibition. The dialogue between the two artists, however, also reveals one thing to the visitor: a common reality.

The dialogue between both artists is rounded off in the exhibition by sculptures by Daniel Spoerri (*1930). His works create a motivic connection within the œuvres of all three artists and at the same time enable a new view of the works of Georg Baselitz and Ernst Ludwig Kirchner.

In the exhibition you will be surprised by numerous parallels in the work of the artists and at the same time by their individuality.
